Alebrijes are figurines belonging to Mexican folk art. They represent imaginary beings borrowing physiognomic elements of several animals, fantastic or real, to form a unique and amazing being, and are generally painted in joyful and vibrant colors.
For several years, the tradition has spread to Guatemala where the crafts of painted figurines is extremely developed. Entirely carved and hand painted, each piece is unique and comes from the highlands of Guatemala. The use of wood is part of the reforestation rules in force in the country.
