Finely worked by hand, this ex-voto heart is surmounted by a cross bordered with flames. Entirely in gold brass with a thickness of 0.3mm, this heart is cut out and then embossed by hand by the artisan manufacturer.
Inspired by models prior to the Spanish conquest of the American continent, it is bordered by a crown of symbols reminiscent of objects of Catholic worship.
It is a perfect example of the centuries-old tradition of metalwork in Mexico, which was enriched with models and forms of religious art imported by the Spanish conquest. Dimensions 24 × 14.5 × .5 cm
The gold color recalls the secular know-how of the original Mayan populations but also the precious metal which was the compelling reason for the conquest of the Americas.
