The work of Chilean artist Mariana Vilches Schmidt, this ex-voto heart inspired by Mexican culture is handcrafted from recycled newspaper pulp.
The clay is made using a mixture invented by his mother, the sculptor Patricia Schmidt. It is worked cold avoiding any energy consumption and solidified by adding plaster waste to the mixture.
Born in the late 90s, this technique characterizes a 100% upcycling manufacturing (“upcycling” or recycling from above) based on the recovery of materials that are no longer used in order to transform them into superior quality products. . It makes this unique decoration a totally eco-responsible product.
