Characteristic of Mexican religious art, these ex-votos (also called milagros) are used either independently or in decoration of more elaborate pieces to make a wish or thank for a wish granted.
They are made of zamac metal (a mixture of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper) melted and cast in a mold made by hand. Very widespread in Mexico and Latin America, it is very difficult to find artisan manufacturers who jealously guard their methods and are located in remote areas of Mexico.
