Retablo niche – Luna de miel
In this model, the bridegroom thanks the Virgin of Guadalupe for protecting his bride when, during their honeymoon, she was attacked by a mermaid who had fallen in love with him.
The thank-you text, classically handwritten by the artist at the bottom of the retablo, is reproduced on a metal plate hanging at the foot of the niche.
